Amanda McKenzie is a visual artist in Edmonton, Alberta. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (2012) from the University of Alberta, held SNAP’s Emerging Artist in Residence (2012), and has had solo exhibitions at SNAP Gallery (2013) and Naess Gallery (2013). Amanda has been involved in numerous collaborative projects, group exhibitions, and her work is currently held at Art Gallery of St. Albert’s Gallery Shop.

Amanda advocates for the Arts in Edmonton and surrounding area through her artistic practice and through her employment as SNAP’s Printshop and Programs Coordinator. Amanda has taught art programs at Red Deer College Summer Series Program (2017), SNAP (2015 - 2018), Art Gallery of St. Albert (2014 - 2015, 2017), Gallery@501 (2013 - 2014, 2017 - 2018), City Arts Centre (2012 - 2014), and Smeltzer House (2012) and has previously facilitated gallery and community programs as the Community Programs Coordinator at Art Gallery of St. Albert (2014 - 2015).

Her creative practice focuses on printmaking processes such as photolithography, relief, and silkscreen as well as experimenting with photography and collage. The use of textiles, patterns, and found materials interests her image-making as well as ideas of memory and reality and how both are often fallible and distorted. Amanda is interested in creating images that explore fabrications and falsities in perception.
