Amanda McKenzie is a visual artist in Treaty 6 territory (Edmonton, Alberta) whose work utilizes printmaking, photography, and collage. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (2012) from the University of Alberta, held SNAP’s Emerging Artist in Residence (2012), and has had solo exhibitions at SNAP Gallery (2013), Naess Gallery (2013) and a feature staircase exhibition at the Art Gallery of St. Albert (2021). Amanda’s work is held in public and private collections, represented in the Art Gallery of St. Albert’s Rental & Sales Gallery and W.A.R.E.S, and has been purchased by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Her work has been exhibited in numerous group exhibitions in Canadian cities such as Edmonton and surrounding communities, Calgary, Kelowna, Ottawa, Vancouver, as well as internationally in Mysłakowice, Poland. In 2020 she was awarded an Edmonton Arts Council Artist Project Grant for the continuation of her current body of work, Enticement. She is a member of the Paper Arts Guild in St. Albert and a renting artist at SNAP Gallery & Printshop. She has taken part in the Ayatana Artist Research Program (2020), was an instructing artist (2021) for the Shoals Marine Laboratory Artist in Residence program, and will be an in-person artist in the summer of 2022.
Amanda is active in the Edmonton and surrounding area art community through her artistic practice, in her employment as the Adult Fine Arts Program Coordinator at City Arts Centre for the City of Edmonton, and as an educator and facilitator at a number of arts organizations: SNAP Gallery & Printshop (2015 - 2021),,Red Deer College Summer Series Program (2017), Art Gallery of St. Albert (2014 - 2015, 2017), Gallery@501 (2013 - 2014, 2017 - 2018), City Arts Centre (2012 - 2014), and Smeltzer House (2012).
